Well we all know what happened, and I will be posting many, many more pics l!
Bur this was the openig face off to the best sporting event I’ve ever seem. Check back in the next few days for a ton of new pics!
This was the crowd to watch Warm-ups! Unreal. Virtually every seat was full before the first skate took the ice. And while we were probably outnumbered 45-1, there was plenty of red, white and blue waving and spotted around the rink.
This is the line/crowd gathered BEFORE the gates even opened. Thousands of people to watch warmups. And for the record, the first chant that erupted in this crowd of red…”USA! USA! US—”…then it was cut off by “CAN-A-DUH!” (at least that’s how I heard it). We actually got 2 USA chants in before we made it past the gates.
We had a little more than am hr between games. The crowds were already pouring in, along with tons of trash talking for us sporting our USA hockey jerseys.
The Russia / Czech game was great. Russia won, Ovechkin wrecked Jagr, and the atmosphere was fantastic…only to ve quickly surpassed by the US / Canada game.
Finally ended day 2 by grabbing a nice 11pm dinner at Steamworks Brewery and Restaurant. After a really long day with a ton of walking, a ton of cheering/screaming, and not a lot of sleep…it was definitely necessary for us to polish off 3 pitchers of some good microbrew IPA.
I’m finally off to bed with about 4 hrs of sleep till we’re back up for day 3. Added the Russia/Czech Republic game to the list, so it’s gonna be another very full one…but can’t wait for it.
